Loved this romance story!

I first read this book when I was a teenager, and it was the sexiest thing ever! Rereading it, there is still a lot of magic there. I actually found myself enjoying the parts about the historical perfume industry more than the love stories :) Great read, excellent characters, and sexy as hell!

Does Not Always Sparkle

With SCENTS Johanna Kingsley definitely has the making of a wonderful storyteller with her intriguing plot and subplots and lively cast of characters, but alas misses the boat big time due to her poor choice of putting everything into a Harlequin perspective as her climax nears. Sure, there's nothing wrong with a little romance here and there or a safer route taken for a beautiful (but very naive) heroine who has suffered so much so in the name of love. But, c'mon, (BIG SPOILERS AHEAD) there's happy endings and HAPPY ENDINGS! Does the book really have to stick on the sugary mode? Explanation: In the end, the protagonist not only succeeds in battling her rival sister, but also makes up with her, gets the hot guy, marries him, and of course turns up carrying his child--all done in a few paragraphs time. Why oh why can't this type of work keep a softer and realistic side when conclusions are concerned, like, say, any novels by Judith Krantz, for instance? Life in the glitz and glamour world would be so much more enjoyable; for this reviewer at least.-----Martin Boucher

Oh, Wow!

I was recently asked to review this book because it is coming out in Kindle format soon.
When I first started reading it, I was a little skeptical that I would enjoy it because it is set in the early 1980s, but within two or three chapters I was hooked.
The story is about 2 rival sisters who hold majority share of a perfume company.
Ms. Kingsley quickly makess her characters come alive and I developed a love / hate relationship with the sisters (meaning I loved Vie and hated Marty.) That changes toward the end, but for the good.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves to read romance novels. The books is packed with all the right stuff.
I WILL own a copy of this on my Kindle as soon as it's released.
I have it under good authority that all of the Johanna Kingsley novels will be out in Kindle format this year, and I hope I am asked to pre-read the others, too.
