Sensing Repetition
By theboombody
The original Greatest Salesman in the World follows the great salesman Hafid's life before and after he reads the 10 scrolls of selling success. In this quite similar sequel, the scrolls of success are lost in a shipwreck, and Hafid is divinely called to write 10 new scrolls in order to replace the old ones.

The new scrolls emphasize these main points:

-Never again will I belittle myself

-I won't start the day without a map

-I will be enthusiastic

-I will never be unpleasant to others

-I will look for triumph in adversity

-I will do my best on every task

-I will focus completely on the task at hand

-I will never wait for opportunity, instead I will seek it

-Each night, I will reflect on what I did, and think about how I can improve

-I will pray to the creator in success and failure

Some of these points look VERY similar to the points made in the first book, so much that I was tempted to give this book 3 stars, but the new scroll emphasizing the foolishness of waiting for opportunity was much needed. Also, the last scroll about prayer was needed, even though it is essentially a repeat of the tenth scroll in the first book. I am very glad that this author puts so much emphasis on prayer.

Aside from repetition, the only thing I didn't like about this book is that the scrolls are treated so majestically, being just a hair under Biblical scripture itself - almost as if to suggest that the ingredients necessary for any kind of success are both the Word of God AND ten extra scrolls. I'm not so sure Paul would agree. The scrolls are helpful for success, but not necessary.

But yeah, I have to agree. Sitting around and waiting for opportunity to come to you is really the worst thing you can do.

The Hunting

Spock settled back, nodding reluctantly at McCoy's request. "I am engaging in a ritual hunt--one of the more important rituals of my people. Since I am a male of full physical strength and dexterity, I seek out the most dangerous beast of all. It is the mok farr-- the time of remembrance."

"Another Vulcan ritual--and me with only a medikit," thought McCoy, appalled.

"The hunt does not end in a killing. Instead, I shall meld minds with the animal, as you have seen me do before. The purpose of the tradition is to see and understand, in the ferocity of the beast, the savagery of the Vulcan nature, which we have hidden and controlled so carefully."

"And then what?" McCoy asked skeptically, thinking privately that Spock, unlike young men on Vulcan, had doubtless already encountered more savage ferocity than he would ever require.

"Then I shall officially be an adult."

"You mean you're not?" McCoy asked, amazed.

Spock shook his head, shamefaced. "My human heritage impeded my telepathic ability, and I was quite young when I left Vulcan. I could not have successfully completed the ritual. Since then, I have had mind contact with many aliens--Humans, the Horta, a Medusan. Now I am prepared. I do not wish to further postpone the rite."

"Wouldn't it be safer to put it off until you could get to Vulcan?" McCoy ventured tentatively.

"Doctor. The mok farr is the Vulcan rite of passage into adulthood. If our positions were reversed, would you put it off?"

"I guess you've got a point."

Spock curled up like a cat on a pile of leaves--he was carrying primitivism a bit too far, McCoy thought resentfully--and prepared for sleep. "The correct phrase would be 'Good night, Doctor,'" Spock said sleepily. McCoy crawled into his sleeping bag, and for a long time listened to the voice of the warm wind.

As usual, Spock was up at dawn, irritatingly alert, and as usual, McCoy slept half an hour longer, savoring each precious moment of sleep with an intensity he had not previously possessed. Once McCoy was finally wakened, Spock had them ready for the trail in practically no time at all.

In three days the Vulcan had taught McCoy something of the rudiments of stalking--enough to tiptoe quietly down the trail. Spock, who by this time had appropriated the carrying of nearly all of McCoy's pack, was more silent still.

"How long until we find your owltiger?" McCoy panted.

"We have been following a scissorbuck herd for two days now," Spock replied. "Eventually, one will make an appearance."

"Mmmph. Maybe."

"Dr. McCoy, do you know nothing of hunting?" Spock was watching the lithe brown forms of the scissorbucks move slowly in the distance.

"I've fished a little."

"I have never been able to comprehend the Terran attitude that fishing is a sport. Considering the mass ratio between man and fish, it can hardly be called an equal contest. At any rate, you may trust me. I know what I am doing."

At that moment Spock's keen eyes caught the leaders of the herd sniffing the air nervously. "Wait here," he commanded, slipping off the bulky pack and moving quietly toward the herd. After a few minutes, McCoy crept after him, clutching the medikit firmly in hand.

From a slight rise he watched Spock approach the now skittish herd. The Vulcan's Star Fleet uniform was relatively easy to spot--McCoy recollected the incredulous eyebrow-raising he'd encountered when he had suggested wearing different clothes for the occasion. Apparently Spock considered his uniform an auxiliary skin.

McCoy strained his eyes looking for an owltiger, then finally flipped open his medikit to check its lifeform-sensor. He hadn't wanted to take one of the Enterprise's tricorders on a private excursion, but the medikit would perform the same function.

Yes. Spock was cautiously approaching the location of a large animal only a few hundred yards from the herd. Then McCoy saw the owltiger.

It was huge, a mottled dun color, with a small white ruff. The owlish ears were what gave the beast the name owltiger, McCoy knew, that and the two wicked fangs placed close together, which gave the impression of a beak.

Had it seen Spock? The scissorbucks were beginning to scatter. Then McCoy saw Spock fling himself toward the giant carnivore at a dead run. The great cat roared, and responded by leaping toward him.

As the two closed, McCoy cursed the government regulation that made phasers in Primitive Areas forbidden. He watched helplessly as the beast attacked. Spock was almost under its paws, and then suddenly standing over the brute, which was twitching convulsively. "He's safe!" McCoy shouted thankfully, then added, "Knock on wood."

The owltiger's short red thoughts flooded into Spock's mind. Spock struggled with the problem of handling its bestial emotions without suppressing them, and attempted to calm the beast by mentally asserting, "We are one mind. Our thoughts are moving together." Hurt, pain, attack, slash. "No! We are unity--no need for that!" Run, leap, bite, hurt. "The twitching in the legs will stop..." Flesh rending food, the hunting... Fascinating--all thoughts the same. Monomania...monom...mon... Teeth, claws, kill, kill, kill kill kill kill...

The owltiger shook itself and bounded off. McCoy watched it go with a feeling of great relief. "Well, that's that," he told himself, satisfied. He was startled, then, to hear an unearthly roar.

Or was it a scream? It's Spock! McCoy realized. "I'm coming," he yelled, and recklessly scrambled down the slope toward his comrade.

Spock was crouching on all fours, flexing and unflexing his hands, looking at the strange blunt claws. He felt clumsy and off-balance. The whole landscape was full of confusingly different colors, sounds, and odors. Out of the corner of his eye he saw the scissorbuck herd, alerted and on the run, and he growled in irritation.

Some creature was crashing down the hill at him. Suspiciously, he prepared to spring. But foggily, from the back of his mind, he remembered that the creature had something to do with sickness and whirring things that hurt, and his own blood. Rattled, he got up on two feet and fled.

"Wait, Spock, wait!" McCoy puffed. He'd known that catching Spock was impossible from the moment that Spock had started to run, but had continued until the last glimpse of the blue shirt was gone in the distance.

"Damn!" McCoy remembered bitterly Spock's tendency to get so tied up in the mind of the being he was contacting that he had to be pried loose. "I'll have to bring him back to himself, or he'll be yowling at the moon for the rest of his shore leave." McCoy grumbled. Nagging at him was the recollection of Simon van Gelder. Spock had snapped back to normal immediately after being pulled away from him. Never before had Spock maintained mental identity with a being so far away from him. Worriedly, McCoy reached for his communicator to summon help.

It wasn't there. He'd let Spock carry it, along with most of his gear. The doctor scrambled over the dusty grasses to where Spock had dropped his pack, opened it, and rifled through. No--Spock had carried both their communicators securely on his belt. And they were both lost with him.

Glumly McCoy considered the situation. The nearest Wilderness Station was about twenty miles back along the river. By the time he could get there and call the Enterprise, Spock could wander off so far that the search operation might take months. And heaven only knew what would be happening to Spock, mentally and physically, in the meantime.

Grinding his teeth quietly, McCoy decided to follow the herd. Maybe Spock would return. He had to!

Interesting in so many ways...
By Tavia
I'm not sure I've ever felt so many different things from one book. I may be thinking that because I read it yesterday, but the fact remains that this is a remarkable book. Inspiring, hilarious, unsettling. To choose two favorite stories to illustrate: "The Face in the Barroom Floor," and "Mind-Sifter," which has already been mentioned twice. The first is simply hilarious. A rollicking story from beginning to end, from Kirk's barroom brawl to his escape from jail to McCoy's final conclusion that maybe Spock had better take shore leave next time. A funny, feel-good, well-written story. As opposed to "Mind-Sifter." I read it yesterday, and I'm still unsettled. I think it can all be summed up by mentioning that Kirk frequently whimpers, screams, cries, and it's not at all funny or unnatural. An excellent story. Though unsettling. Those are two of eight, I could go on but I won't. I'll just conclude that this book manages to span and touch all the best aspects of Star Trek fiction. Not bad for a little 236 page paperback.

Pure nostalgia
By A Customer
This book is literally like taking a trip back in time. The stories are very good, my favorite being Mindsifter. The one about the actors actually being transported into the ST universe is especially fun. Much better than The New Voyages 2, which is still a lot of fun.

Fascinating!
By A Customer
This is a marvelous book. Inside it, you can find 8 stories writed by star trek fans of the 1970`s. I think that the best story of this book is "Ni Var", in which Spock is separated in his two breeds: one Vulcan and another Human. Both Spocks decided to be reunited, because it is - of course - 'logic`, that they must remained as one only being. The last story `Mind sifter'is interesting, too, but I would wish that the writer would provided more details about the encounter between Kor, Kirk and the Guardian of Forever.
REad it! You don't be disappointed.

At sixteen Anne is grown up. . . almost. Her gray eyes shine like evening stars, but her red hair is still as peppery as her temper. In the years since she arrived at Green Gables as a freckle-faced orphan, she has earned the love of the people of Avonlea and a reputation for getting into scrapes. But when Anne begins her job as the new schoolteacher, the real test of her character begins. Along with teaching the three Rs, she is learning how complicated life can be when she meddles in someone else's romance, finds two new orphans at Green Gables, and wonders about the strange behavior of the very handsome Gilbert Blythe. As Anne enters womanhood, her adventures touch the heart and the funny bone.

Enduring, original, and always entertaining Anne Shirley!
By wildroses
The ANNE OF GREEN GABLES series is one of the most unforgettable, and one of the most enjoyable, series of all children's literature. This series chronicles the life and times of Anne Shirley.
Anne Shirley is the plucky, imaginative, red-haired orphan. Her parents die when she is baby, and so she spends the first 11 years of her life going between homes and orphanages, with no one really wanting to keep or to love her. By a mistake, she is brought to Avonlea--instead of a boy--to be adopted by Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, a pair of farmers who never thought they would be raising a girl in their old age.
You may want to skip this next part of my review, because I am going to sum up each book briefly. No plot spoilers will be revealed, but some of the contents will, and if you haven't read all the books, then maybe you don't want the content revealed ahead of time.
ANNE OF GREEN GABLES covers a span of Anne's first 5 years in Avonlea. She will age from 11 to 16. Her immortal antics that have made this book so beloved include her rivalry with Gilbert Blythe, dyeing her hair, and falling off of Mrs. Barry's roof...
ANNE OF AVONLEA spans two years. Anne is 18 at the novel's finish. She has become a teacher. Marilla adopts twins. Also, Anne has some more humorous and immortal moments.
ANNE OF THE ISLAND spans 4 years--Anne college years at Redmond. She will be 22 at the end of the novel. Anne discovers the real meaning of romance and love and courtship in this novel.
ANNE OF WINDY POPLARS also known as ANNE OF WINDY WILLOWS covers the 3 years of Anne's engagement to Gilbert. She is a Principle at Summerside High School where she has to deal with the Pringle clan, Katherine Brooke, and plenty of other interesting folks.
ANNE'S HOUSE OF DREAMS covers the first two years of Anne's married life. She and Gilbert now live in Four Winds Point, 60 miles east of Avonlea. Gilbert is making a living as a doctor, and the Blythes have new and interesting neighbors. **My favorite book of the series.**
Note: there is about a 6 year break between AHoD and AoI.
ANNE OF INGLESIDE covers about 6 years. Anne and Gilbert have moved to Glen St. Mary, near Four Winds Point, and now have children. This novel covers the birth of Rilla to the 15th wedding anniversary of Anne and Gilbert. More about Anne's children's adventures than Anne herself.
RAINBOW VALLEY takes place in 1 year. It is about Anne's children, and more specifically their neighbors, the Merediths--Faith, Una, Jerry, and Carl--and Mary Vance, but Anne does come in at important points within the novel. Faith is reminiscent in many ways of the young Anne.
Note: there is about a 9 year break between RV and RoI.
RILLA OF INGLESIDE is a heroine in her right. She ages from 15 to 19 during World War 1, the setting of this novel's time period. Anne is by now in her 50s and is a background character, but Rilla is a delightful and outgoing heroine with or without her mother.
This series was meant to be loved and reread and reread. Read the books in chronological order, or read them out-of-order but you'll still find them as fresh and enjoyable and as humorous as the first time you read them.
***Montgomery wrote some books about Anne's neighbors in Avonlea (CHRONICLES OF AVONLEA, FURTHER CHRONICLES OF AVONELEA) and in Glen St. Mary (THE ROAD TO YESTERDAY). And so if you enjoy the Anne books you might enjoy those books as well---although any Montgomery book is a reccommended read.***

The most wonderful books in the world
By Heather
When I was in high school I was a mean, black leather wearing, heavy metal girl. A long time friend forced me against my will to read the first "Anne" book and my life has been so much more beautiful ever since. These books made me see the magical beauty in nature, bosom friends, family, imagination, and even crabby old ladies (this last has come in handy on many occasions). I now have made a point of buying the set for every girl I consider a friend. I am now 23, and when I have children of my own, girls or boys, I will read them "Anne" as soon as they can understand what I am saying. If you liked the "Anne" books I would also recommend books by Louisa May Alcott (Little Women)and Frances Hodgson Burnett (A Little Princess)

True Classic - In TRUE Original Form
By D. Spurlock
This 100th Anniversary Edition is just what it purports to be: a republishing of the original work, with original cover art.

What the displeased readers below don't seem to realize is that the typos and lack of proofreading are part of the TRUTH about how this book was originally treated/printed. It was neither respected nor expected to do well (although the publishers -- and the author -- were quickly proven to have underestimated the gem that is Anne).

If you're looking for a modern treatment of this classic story, with every "t" crossed and "i" dotted, then this is not the edition for you.

If you're interested in imagining Maud Montgomery's true feelings, as she read her first printed novel, both her thrill at its mere publication and her resigned displeasure at the typos and misspellings, then this edition offers you a glimpse at the real condition of Anne's first publication, 100 years ago.

Though this great tragedy of unsurpassed intensity and emotion is played out against Renaissance splendor, its story of the doomed marriage of a Venetian senator’s daughter, Desdemona, to a Moorish general, Othello, is especially relevant to modern audiences. The differences in race and background create an initial tension that allows the horrifyingly envious villain Iago methodically to promote the “green-eyed monster” jealousy, until, in one of the most deeply moving scenes in theatrical history, the noble Moor destroys the woman he loves–only to discover too late that she was innocent.

No annotations on each page
By C. Hartley
My problem with the Kindle Bantam Classic edition of Othello is that there are no footnotes at the bottom of each page. This means no immediate vocab definitions or comprehension aids. I bought the Kindle edition because my old Signet paperback Othello is yellow with age, plus tiny font. (I'm rereading Othello before watching the live performance starring Blair Underwood and Richard Thomas.) Not being a scholar of Elizabethan English, I do need annotative help with the vocab and idioms. So unfortunately, it's back to the old, barely readable but annotated Signet print version for me.

THIS IS AMAZING
By nydunes
Why no 5 stars? This is the best purchase of my college career. Better than sparknotes and way better than the original old english version that makes no sense and is miserable to read.

I bought this for my Shakespeare class. Hell no I am not reading the original edition in hard to read language. This has a simple version next to it in PLAIN english so I can comprehend what the story is actually about instead of dozing off as i take in zero. It made me appreciate Shakespeare and enjoy this story. I used it for a college class (non-english majors) and I passed all quizzes and was able to discuss what happened and identify quotes. PLUS there is the original version on the page next to it. When the teacher asked what we thought the line meant I always had the answer.

This makes me ENJOY the story, PASS the class and save TIME. Get this series for each adn every shakespear book.

Great play, great electronic version
By Nick
Othello was one of the first plays I was exposed to when I was younger. It has murder, suicide, intrigue and things that would get a teenager into Shakespeare.

I've had mixed success with some of the free Kindle versions of Shakespeare. Some have been good, some have been awful. This is an exceptional version. It's formatted nicely and is easy to read. The only "lack" is that it is without line numbers, so if you were to use this for academic reasons, you might have an issue or two.

Thus far, Othello's my favorite free Shakespeare play. I missed how much of a jerk Iago was, and all the deception that lead to Othello killing Desdemona.

If you've got a Kindle and want to read Shakespeare, then download this version.

Helpful thoughts on dealing with the stresses of life
By A Customer
What is interesting is about this book is that is not one to be read from cover to cover. It is more a reference and source of inspiration in dealing with life's events. At the end of each chapter, there is an excellent prayer to our Father. The basis of this book demonstrates how faith in our Father and His son, Jesus, and the love they have given us strengthens us in dealing with daily situations. It is interesting to note that this book was apparently first published in 1944 and 55 years later the advice and counsel contained in each chapter is relevant today as it was then. This is the type of book that should be carried and kept on hand to help you through trying times. If used properly, the pages will become "dog eared" through frequent use. Great book for all ages.

Twisted Sister Meets Clive Barker - Not Just A Great Horror Novel But An Excellent Document Of A Time!
By DLD
America, The Late Eighties: A war for the hearts and minds of a nation rages between the forces of the religious right and the liberal left; as televangelists lobby the government to implement draconian legislation that will effectively censure the constitutional freedom of expression of shock-rock artists, musicians themselves go to ever greater lengths to voice their opposition. Rock front-man and Vietnam veteran, Jake Hamer, finds himself caught in the crossfire between the two factions as he orchestrates "Rock Aid": a huge stadium-rock extravaganza designed to benefit artists threatened by the exhortations of the moral majority; but as Hamer puts the finishing touches to the benefit concert in place, a wave of horrific violence sweeps the country - much of it apparently inspired by the music of the wildly popular and deeply mysterious pseudo-Satanic metal group, "The Scream". Is it posturing for publicity or are "The Scream" really as committed to their apocalyptic doctrine as they seem? The answers will plunge Jake Hamer and his loved ones into a nightmare...the depths of which they can scarcely imagine.

I had a ball with "The Scream" as it perfectly captures the zeitgeist of the mid-to-late eighties. I was a teenager at the time this book is set and can only too clearly remember the battles that were fought in the public domain over what and what could not be considered artistically permissible; memories of the "Ozzy Osbourne" and "Judas Priest" suicide trials and the more or less entirely futile exploits of the censorious Tipper Gore rose inexorably to the surface as I ploughed through it. Skipp and Spector themselves, who were hailed as the notorious bad-boys of the newly christened "Splatterpunk" movement at the time, also clearly relished the chance to eviscerate the consciousness of Reaganite America and they did so with aplomb.

But to write S&S off as mere "Splatterpunk" authors has been to always do them a major disservice. Frankly, they're two of the finest writers ever to grace the contemporary horror genre; quite literally, when they were on top of their game, which they were for the majority of their career, they were easily the equal of Stephen King, Clive Barker, Joe R. Lansdale and any other young Turk working in the genre that you care to mention. They also stood head and shoulders over most writers working in the field. Their prose, characters and style pops and crackles with all the ferocity of a good Guitar solo...or possibly a human heart being fried in a pan.

Given the recent vogue for all things eighties, I'd love to see HBO dust this novel off and make it as a miniseries; but only on the understanding that it remains a period piece and that they eschew CGI effects in favour of the truly gruesome (and far more convincing) prosthetic creations of someone like Rob Bottin, Tom Savini or Screaming Mad George.

If you like a good horror novel of the truly visceral variety, pick this one up.

This is the book Skipp & Spector were born to write.
By cr0wgrrl
Out of all of their books, The Scream remains my favorite work by these two authors. I bought this at a used book store, not expecting much more than an afternoon's entertainment. To my delight, I discovered a thought-provoking treatise on censorship, Christianity (and this book *isn't* anti-Christian), abortion, and demonically inspired heavy metal music.
The plot is pretty straightforward, and follows three main vectors:
1. The protagonists, all part of a heavy metal band, are fighting the extreme censorship attempts of fundamental Christian televangelists.
2. The antagonists, a heavy metal band inspired by a demon from another dimension, are trying to bring their matron through to this reality.
3. One of the protagonists, Jesse, finds herself accidentally pregnant and must wrestle with her beliefs, dreams and desires over whether to terminate her pregnancy.
In the hands of less skilled authors, these plots could have become sophomoric and boring. Guided by Skipp and Spector, they are instead intense, exciting, horrifying and enthralling. It was especially nice to see a book on this topic that didn't just mindlessly bash Christianity (a topic I'm fully sick of, even though I'm not Christian), but instead approached the subject with a true understanding of the problems of narrowmindedness and greed.
Don't worry, splatterpunk fans -- there's also a lot of blood and gore, violence and insanity. My only regret is that Skipp and Spector didn't do a soundtrack for The Scream -- I'd love to hear the music in their heads.

For the young at heart, and metal fans
By Kevin Killian
Metal fans, and the young and heart, will be drawn to THE SCREAM for its portrayal of the rock and roll lifestyle both stadium and club variety. Obviously inspired by Stephen Davis' HAMMER OF THE GODS and like journalism, Skipp and Spector whipped up a righteous concoction that just bubbles over with greenish lava froth. If Satan really had a say in what metal sounds like, do you think He would have permitted those of little brain power to approach his altar? I don't think so my friends! The suspense gathers in the final chapters, as the members of the SCREAM (the band, not to be confused with England's PRIMAL SCREAM) approach the coming apocalypse with stiff upper lip and a variety of hallucinatory experience.

They used to be the two authors you could really count on to really scare the living daylights out of you, but then something happened--something twisted snd sick--something that broke the bonds which it had been thought no man was born strong enough to put them asunder. And ever since then, there really hasn't been a good thrill book and we've taken to watching old re-runs of Mister Rogers Neighborhood. Come back you guys, reunite, everyone else has done it, you can too!

Review
"Perhaps Mr. Stearn's greatest achievement . . . is that he has given his subject such universality. The reader is left with the firm conviction, not that Edgar Cayce was a unique 'odd-man-out,' but that he spoke for the sleeping prophet that lies dormant in every human being." -- Noel Langley

The life and story of Edgar Cayce is one of the most compelling in metaphysical literature. For more than forty years, the "Sleeping Prophet" closed his eyes, entered into an altered state of consciousness, and spoke to the very heart and spirit of humankind on subjects such as health, healing, dreams, prophecy, meditation, and reincarnation. Now in a 30th Anniversary Special Edition printing, Edgar Cayce: The Sleeping Prophet is a fascinating biography that will hold the reader spellbound and leaving him or her in wonder at the the potential of humankind. -- Midwest Book Review

From the Back Cover
Dare we believe in prophecies? A native of Kentucky with a ninth grade education, Edgar Cayce accurately predicted two world wars, including the years they began and ended, racial strife in America, the death of John F. Kennedy and hundreds of other recorded events. He could apparently travel in time and space to treat the ill, and dispense information that led to innumerable cures where traditional medicine was useless. The first to introduce many Americans to the concept of reincarnation, Cayce drew on a subconscious Universal Mind for starting information about past and future. In The Sleeping Prophet, Jess Stearn presents the extraordinary story of Cayce's life, his healings, his prophecies, and his powerful legacy.

About the Author
Stearn is a former editor of Newsweek and the New York Daily News.

This is a great introduction to a great man. Unforgettable!
By lhanna@neo.lrun.com
Jess Stearn's style of writing may tend to be a tad sensationalistic, but he certainly makes you think. Especially now that it is l998, reading Ch. 3 on earth changes can be a bit chilling. I love the book because it set me on the spiritual path with both feet. Edgar Cayce, the greatest prophet of our century, the Father of Wholistic Medicine and simple man with a great heart and a cosmic mind, will be a truly "real character" for you, by the time you finish this remarkable book. Thanks Jess for making him so accessible!

Interesting!
By MystinaMarie
This was a very, very interesting read. I caught a Cayce special on A&E and became interested. After looking around, this book seemed to contain the most information. It's a great collection from early life until death and even contains some medical readings and advice.

I will admit that going back and trying to find something is very difficult b/c the chapters are long and there is no index. For more specific medical advice and categorizing I bought The Edgar Cayce Encylcopedia of Healing.

Good resource, a little challenging to read
By Freda Ingram
I'm in the process of reading this book now and although I agree with much of what the author says, it's difficult to get through. I'm having a difficult time following along because, in my opinion, the flow is off. It reads much like a textbook (college students will know what I mean here). I was expecting a simplier layout and I'm having to go back and forth to make connections. I'm going to keep reading because I believe these transactions can cause difficulties in one's life and it's important to learn how "not" to play the games. IF you purchase, be ready to feel like you are back in school.

Still a good read!
By M Sloan
For those who are working on being mindful of their own dynamic and how to be more authentic. I found this book helpful in reminding me that much of interaction with others is largely reactionary and learned response and that by intentionally being more present and by recognizing my attitude helps me to interact on a better level. This book offers guidelines to more effective communication.

This book explains the psychological games people play that keep them "safe" but also from experiencing a much richer life and intimacy. Check out this book and move beyond the superficial exchanges like - "Hi, how are you?/Fine, how about you?"
